In XV c. Vilnius was a significant centre of goldsmithery in Eastern and Central Europe. Goldsmiths provided gold articles to rulers and their courts, the Church, and the citizens. Articles of Vilnius goldsmiths are preserved in the treasury of Vilnius Arch Cathedral, in other churches of Lithuania, in many foreign museums and private collections. People still have a chance to adminre the altar of Saint Victorin in Vilnius St. Johns’ Church, the pulpit at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Vilnius, and St. Mary’s picture in Trakai.

Presently many talented and fruitful jewellers and goldsmiths work in Vilnius. The goldsmiths’ guild-gallery "Meno Nisa" was established in 2002 by Maryte Gureviciene and Diana Stomiene seeking to preserve traditions of Vilnius goldsmiths, to encourage their creativity and to help them integrate into the city culture life. The gallery invites to see the newest jewellery articles of Lithuanian professional artists, buy or order an exclusive piece of jewellery, a precious stone or enamel article. The gallery will provide extensive information about the articles of interest.

Goldsmith trades are demonstrated by professionl artist Maryte Gureviciene: Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. you may watch the process of enamel roast and to obtain main theoretic knowledge.
You should book an excursion in advance during working days from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
