Autumn equinox “Legend of Vilnius”

On the 20th of September Vilnius centre of ethnic culture will organize an event called "Legend of Vilnius", which is dedicated to The Millennium of Lituania and autumn equinox. This event will be held on the right bank of the Neris near King Mindaugas bridge at 20 o‘clock.

Here by the bank of the river Neris pupils and students of Vilnius city will burn Gediminas poles, traces of wolf and XIV century ritual hatchet signs made of candles. Composition is made by the paintress Julija Ikamaitė (scientific guide - Vykintas Vaitkevičius). Members of Vilnius fakirs club "Flaming signs" will dance with fire on the bank. There would float three compositions in the river, which would symbolize Gediminas dream and the vision of Vilnius city. There are: "Hunting of Gediminas" (the rain of flaming arrows over Neris), "Soothsayer Lizdeika" (in the "nest" will dance a fakir with fire), "Vision of Vilnius city" (accompanying with bells music there would float shining paintings of Vilnius towers). Authors of these compositions are Mindaugas Aliukas, Daumantas Kučas and young sculptors of national M. K. Čiurlionis art school. Author of music, sound compositions and improvisations is Gediminas Žilys.
