Mora Godoy and Junior Cervila in Tango Show ‘Tangodisea’
2008-02-25 08:41

Mora Godoy has been widely acknowledged by both the audience and international art critics as the most eminent tango dancer and choreographer of Argentina. Her present-day fame and success rest on strong educational background in dancing as well as on the long history of acclaimed performances in various dance projects.

Having graduated as a classical ballerina from the famous Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Mora continued polishing and improving her dancing technique by studying classical ballet in Russia for twelve years. Later in 1992, she made a foray into tango when she joined the famous ‘Tango x 2’ production to perform with its creator, legendary tango dancer and choreographer Miguel Angel Zotto. In 1997, Mora’s talent and the public’s recognition brought her to Stanford University, USA, where she was invited to teach a course in tango and give master classes. Since then she has received many dancing awards and has been extremely successful directing, choreographing and starring in numerous hit shows, musicals and spectacles.

In her work, Mora practises her own unique award-winning style of dancing. She combines tango traditions with elements of classical ballet. Her performances are hence filled with dramatic depth, elegant sophistication of the movements and steps, high emotionality and nearly brutal passion. Such a technique flavoured with spicy rhythms of salsa, rumba and mambo always leaves the audience completely mesmerized.

In ‘Tangodissea’, Mora Godoy is starring with Junior Cervila who is in turn one of the best male representatives of the genre with a remarkable career of his own. For this show, the two super-stars of tango come to work together again after their triumphant performance in the tango sensation ‘Tanguera’. ‘Tangodissea’ is yet another celebrated manifestation of the subtle junction of the partners and the natural body expression through tango dance.
