Capital Days in Vilnius

The CAPITAL DAYS takes place annually since 1993 in the biggest open-air spaces of the city as the City Hall Square (capacity up to 5.000 people), the Cathedral Square (capacity up to 20.000 people), or the Vingis Park (capacity up to 70.000 people).
Festival offers a wide range of high-level entertainments from classical music and opera, to jazz, folk, pop, rock and world music, and also film programme, street theatre, fashion shows and carnivals.
The CAPITAL DAYS’ events draw numerous audiences, as they are opened and free. More than 250.000 people visited the CAPITAL DAYS 2005. More than 500 professional artists and 3.000 amateurs from Lithuania and abroad took part in the festival. It also was highly covered by media.
Since 2004 the CAPITAL DAYS is organised by Vilnius’ municipality public enterprise “Vilnius festivals” (“Vilniaus festivaliai”).

Grand opening: “In the air and fire…”
Man on the rope. Didier Pasquette will cross the Cathedral Square… on the rope in the height of 15 meters. The famous “Man on the rope” has already been added to the “Guinness book of records” for crossing the longest distance on the Thames River in London.
The concert by the ZEEP group from Great Britain.
Special fire performance and fireworks.

4 p.m. Avenue starts buzzing. A concert by a dance group and orchestra „Vilnius“from Lithuanian Youth and Children Centre.
5 p.m. Kaunas music revue. Almost real puppet.
6 p.m. Traditional songs about Vilnius performed by „Sutaras“ and Dainius Pulauskas’ quartet in a modern way.
8 p.m. Group „Sportas“ presents its first album „Žemiau juostos“.
